FOREST LODGES

There are three lodges in the area of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya, of which the best is known as Treetops. The Ark and Mountain Lodge offer the same type of accommodation which is in properties built on stilts overlooking floodlit waterholes and salt licks, regularly visited elephant, buffalo, water buck, antelope and sometime members of the cat family.

Both Treetops and The ark lie in the Aberdare Salient. Both have base hotels, (Outspan for Treetops and The Aberdare Country Club for The Ark) where visitors enjoy lunch, then leave their main luggage taking only a light bag up to the forest lodge. Dinner is served at the lodge and in the morning visitors return to the base hotel for breakfast. Mountain lodge is situated in the foothills of Mt. Kenya and has no base hotel, visitors drive right up to the lodge itself.

WTT 10 Treetops - 1 night

Day 1 Treetops / Ark (LD)
Enjoy lunch at the base hotel before transferring to your choice of forest lodge. Dinner and overnight game viewing. Overnight: Treetops or the Ark. (160kms, 3hrs)

Day 2 Nairobi (B)
Breakfast at the base hotel. Return to Nairobi before lunch. Transfer operated by hotel vehicles.

WTT 13 - Masai Mara - 2 nights

Day 1 Maasai Mara (LD)
Travel by road to the Maasai Mara, stopping at Maasai colours for a brief cultural visit. Continue to the Mara arriving around lunch time. Enjoy an afternoon game drive. Overnight: A lodge (250 kms, 5hrs)

Day 2. Maasai Mara (BL)
Morning and afternoon game drives. Overnight: A lodge

Day 3 Maasai Mara - Nairobi
Return by road to Nairobi arriving Mid-day. (280 kms, 6 hrs)

WTT 14 - Amboseli - 2 Nights

Day 1 Amboseli (D)
Drive South from Nairobi to Amboseli, with a game drive en route. Weather permitting the views of Mt. Kilimanjaro will be spectacular. Overnight: Lodge (250 kms, 5hrs)

Day 2 Amboseli (BLD)
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives.

Day 3 Nairobi (B)
An early morning game drive before breakfast then depart for Nairobi, arriving before lunch.

WTT 15 - Great Rift Valley & Masai Mara - 3 Nights

Day 1 Great Rift Valley (D)
Descend into the Great Rift Valley and travel to Lake Naivasha. This afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the lake before dinner.Overnight: Naivasha sopa (90kms, 1 ½ hrs)

Day 2 Masai Mara (BLD)
Drive to the Maasai Mara arriving in time for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game drive before dinner at the lodge. Overnight: Lodge

Day 3 Maasai Mara (BLD)
Morning and afternoon game drives are the highlights of the day. Overnight: A lodge

Day 4 Nairobi (B)
Return by road to Nairobi arriving early afternoon. (280 kms, 3 hrs)

WTT 16 - The Ark, Samburu & Mt. Kenya - 4 Nights

Day 1 The Ark (LD)
Drive to the Aberdare Country Club for lunch. Then, transfer to your Forest lodge for dinner and nocturnal game viewing. Overnight: A lodge (175 kms, 3hrs)

Day 2 Samburu (BLD)
Drive past majestic Mt. Kenya en route to Samburu. After lunch, enjoy a game drive. Overnight: A lodge (185 kms, 3 hrs)

Day 3 Samburu (BLD)
Morning and afternoon game drives. Overnight: A lodge

Day 4 Mt. Kenya Safari Club (BLD)
An early morning game drive before breakfast. Then, drive to Mt. Kenya for lunch and an afternoon at leisure. Overnight: Mt. Kenya Safari Club (135 kms, 2hrs)

Day 5 Nairobi (B)
After breakfast return to Nairobi, arriving around mid-day. (230 kms, 4 hrs)

WTT 17 - The Ark, Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara - 4 Nights

Day 1 The Ark
Drive to the Aberdare Country Club for lunch, then transfer to the Ark for floodlit game viewing. Overnight: The Ark (175 kms, 3 hrs)

Day 2 Lake Nakuru (BLD)
After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Overnight: A lodge (160kms, 3 hrs)

Day 3 Maasai Mara (BLD)
After breakfast, drive through the Great Rift Valley and up the escarpment wall arriving at the lodge for lunch. An afternoon game drive. Overnight: A Lodge (300 kms, 5 hrs)

Day 4 Masai Mara (BLD)
Morning and afternoon game drives. Overnight: A Lodge

Day 5 Nairobi (B)
After breakfast, return by road to Nairobi, arriving before lunch.(280 kms, 6 hrs)
